چکیده

With regard to the second law of thermodynamics, as given by equation (6), it should be noted that the sign "is greater than" applies to the case of a system which is approaching the condition of thermodynamic equilibrium and implies a difference between "forward" and "backward" directions for the time-like coordinate x4. The equality sign, on the other hand, may characterize either a system which is in a condition Qf thermodynamic equilibrium, or one in which changes in the direction of equilibrium are not taking place. To distinguish the important case of thermodynamic equilibrium from one of mere delayed change is usually not difficult, since it is merely necessary to see if zero is the maximum possible value for the integral in equation (6).

Mean Activity Coefficients Measurements and Thermodynamic Modeling of the Ternary Mixed Electrolyte KCl + Lactose + Water System at T = 298.15 K

In this work, the mean activity coefficients of KCl in the KCl+lactose +water system were determined using the potentiometric method. The electromotive force measurements were carried out on the galvanic cell without liquid junction of the type: Ag|AgCl|KCl (m), lactose (wt.%), H2O (1−wt.) %|K-ISE, in various mixed solvent systems containing 0, 5,7.5, 10 and 12.5 % mass fractions of lactose. Th...

EFFECTS OF SALT AND IRRADIANCE STRESS ON PHOTOSYNTHETIC PIGMENTS AND PROTEINS IN DUNALIELLA SALINA TEODORESCO

The aim of this study was to examine the effects of salinity and light intensity on the chlorophylls, ?-carotene and protein contents in Dunaliella salina Teod. The algae were grown in inorganic medium containing 0, 0.9, 1.8 (control), 2.6 and 3.5 M NaCl under three illumination regimens [4500 (control), 9000 and 11000 Lux]. The results showed that most electrophoresis protein bands were separa...

Semi-Continuous Cultivation of Photosynthetic Cells in a Flat Plate Photobioreactor

From an engineering point of view, the effect of light intensity distribution on the stability of growth rate should be taken into account in designing effective photobioreactors and sustaining stable growth rates. In the experiments described here, in order to keep operational parameters at an almost constant level, a semi-continuous culture method was developed for cultivation of photosynthet...

Study of Activity Coefficient of Hydrochloric Acid in 2-Propanol-Water Mixture by Electromotive Force Measurement Method

This paper is mainly focusing on the determination of mean molal activity coefficient of HCl in aqueous acidic medium. The present investigations have been carried out to determine the activity coefficients of hydrochloric acid in 2-propanol water mixture solutions under various conditions to study the ion solvent interactions in different temperatures. The standard molar potential Em0 of the c...

Numerical Simulation of Non-Uniform Gas Diffusion Layer Porosity Effect on Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell Performance

Gas diffusion layers are essential components of proton exchange membrane fuel cell since the reactants should pass through these layers. Mass transport in these layers is highly dependent on porosity. Many of simulations have assumed, for simplicity, the porosity of GDL is constant, but in practice, there is a considerable variation in porosity along gas diffusion layers. In the present study ...
